Racing helmet template
A single-seater racing helmet with a narrow visor opening and a rear spoiler. Use it to plan a car-racing livery before you open the 3D editor or brief a painter.
Free printables
Blank templates of seven real helmet shells, drawn from the same 3D models as our editor. Each sheet shows the left, right, top, front and back at one scale, ready to print, sketch on and colour in.
GP full-face
A single-seater racing helmet with a narrow visor opening and a rear spoiler. Use it to plan a car-racing livery before you open the 3D editor or brief a painter.
Kart & track-day full-face
A rounder full-face shell with a taller visor opening and chin vents, the kind worn in karting and on track days.
Moto road-race full-face
A track-day motorbike helmet with a tall rear spoiler, a big visor and chin vents.
Off-road / motocross
An off-road helmet with a peak, a long chin bar and a goggle port. The template shows a goggle in place so you can see what the strap covers.
Classic open-face
A seventies-style jet helmet with snap studs at the brow and a bubble shield. The shield is shown in light grey so the painted dome stays clear.
Varsity football
A football helmet with jaw flaps, ear holes, a raised centre ridge and a multi-bar facemask. The facemask is shown in light grey so the shell stays clear to colour.
Hockey goalie mask
A pro-style hockey goalie mask with a cat-eye cage, a sculpted chin and a separate backplate. The cage and straps are shown in grey so the paintable mask stays clear.
How to use a helmet template
Download the PDF and print it on A4 in landscape. It also scales to A3 or US Letter: choose "fit to page" in the print dialogue.
Start on the top view, where stripes begin and end, then carry each line down the left, right, front and back views so they meet up.
Felt tips, coloured pencils or paint markers all work. The light grey areas are the visor or facemask, trim and fittings, which you don't usually paint.
Give the finished sheet to a helmet painter, or use it as your own plan for masking and spraying. Check with the helmet's maker before painting it yourself.
Or skip the paper
The same shells are in the Helmet Designer editor. Draw stripes, numbers and logos on flat views and watch them wrap round a 3D helmet as you go, then share it with one link. Free, in your browser.

Each sheet is A4 landscape. The PDF prints on A3 or US Letter too if you pick "fit to page". The PNG is 4200 × 2970 pixels for drawing apps.
All the views on a sheet share one scale, so they line up with each other. The sheet isn't printed at the helmet's real size.
Yes. Open the PNG in any drawing app and fill the outlines on a layer above it. To see the design on a 3D helmet, use the free editor instead.
Many painters work from a sheet like this. Ask the helmet's maker first: some paints and solvents can weaken a shell or affect its safety approval.
