Football helmet template
A football helmet with jaw flaps, ear holes, a raised centre ridge and a multi-bar facemask. The facemask is shown in light grey so the shell stays clear to colour.
One A4 landscape sheet with all five views at the same scale. Outlines are bold enough to colour inside; the facemask, trim and fittings are light grey.

Designing a football helmet
Start with the stripe
Most football helmets have a stripe from the front to the back over the crown. Draw it on the top view first, then carry it onto the front and back views.
Put the number on the side
The sides above the ear holes are the biggest clear areas. A number or a logo there shows up in photos and from the stands.
Choose the facemask colour
Grey, white and black are the classics, or match the facemask to your stripe. Colour it last so you can see what suits the shell.
Design for a team
Use your team's colours, or make up a team for a fantasy league. Keep it to two or three colours so it reads from a distance.
Same shell, in 3D
Design it in 3D
Open this football helmet in the editor and paint it on flat views like the template. Every stripe and number wraps onto the 3D shell as you draw, and you can share the result with one link.
