How to use it
Roll, pick, make it yours
Roll
Press Generate or the space bar. Each roll picks a palette, a graphic style, a race number and a typeface, and paints them on a 3D helmet.
Pick a helmet
Choose GP, kart, road-race, motocross, open-face, football or a goalie mask. The design stays the same and refits to the new shell.
Lock the colours
Like the palette but not the graphic? Lock it and keep rolling. You get new styles in the same colours.
Open in the editor
The roll becomes your draft. Change anything, then create a free account to save it and share a 3D link.
Tips
Turning a roll into your own design
A generated helmet is a starting point. A few changes in the editor make it look like it was always yours.
Start from a blank helmet-
Use your own number
Click the number on either side and type yours. Both sides update, and each reads the right way round.
-
Put your name on the back
Swap the word on the back for your name or nickname. Condensed fonts such as Bebas Neue fit longer names.
-
Fly your flag
Add your country's flag below the name, or replace the one the roll picked. There are flags for every nation.
-
Reshape the graphics
Select a swoosh, shard or flame and move its sliders to make it thicker, longer or angled differently, or edit its outline with the pen.
-
Mix the finishes
A matte shell with gloss stripes stands out on track. Metallic and fluo are free; chrome and pearl come with Pro.
-
Add your sponsors
Upload club or sponsor logos and place them on any view. Free accounts get 2 uploads per design.
FAQ
Generator questions
Is the helmet design generator free?
Yes. Rolling designs, editing them and saving up to 3 on a free account costs nothing. The generator only uses free colours, finishes and graphics, so a roll on the GP or kart shell exports free too. The road-race, motocross, open-face, football and goalie mask shells are free to design and save; exporting from them needs Pro.
Can I get the same design again?
Yes. Every roll has its own address with the roll number and helmet type in it. Copy the link and anyone who opens it sees the same helmet.
Do I need an account?
No. You can roll and edit without one. Create a free account when you want to save a design or get a 3D share link.
Which helmets can it design?
7 helmet types: GP full-face, Kart & track-day full-face, Moto road-race full-face, Off-road / motocross, Classic open-face, Varsity football, and Hockey goalie mask. Switching the helmet type keeps the same roll, so you can compare one design on all of them.
How are the designs put together?
Each roll picks a colour palette (hand-picked, or mixed from the racing paint colours with contrast checks), one of twelve graphic styles such as swooshes, shards, flames, stripes and fades, then a race number and a word in a motorsport typeface. Some rolls add a flag or a visor strip. It doesn't copy real team or driver liveries.
Can a painter work from a generated design?
Yes. Open it in the editor, make your changes, save it and send the 3D share link. Pro adds a printable paint template with all five views laid out flat.
Rather draw your own?
Start from a blank shell or one of 18 starter designs and paint it in 2D while it updates in 3D.
