Designing a kart helmet
Design for the bank
Kart helmets sit high above the steering wheel, so spectators see the sides and the top. Make those views carry the design.
Find room for your number
The chin vents and tall visor leave less space at the front. The sides and the back are better places for a name or number.
Darken the lower edge
Karting helmets pick up scuffs along the bottom. A darker band round the rim hides wear and frames the rest of the design.
Try two or three colours
Small karts move fast and close together. A simple scheme in a few strong colours is easier to pick out than fine detail.
