Motocross helmet template

An off-road helmet with a peak, a long chin bar and a goggle port. The template shows a goggle in place so you can see what the strap covers.

One A4 landscape sheet with all five views at the same scale. Outlines are bold enough to colour inside; the visor, trim and fittings are light grey.

Design tips

Designing a motocross helmet

01

Treat the peak as its own panel

The peak covers much of the top view and is a separate part on a real helmet. Give it its own design that still matches the shell.

02

Put numbers on the chin bar

The long chin bar faces whoever is behind you. It's the classic place for a race number or a short name.

03

Plan for mud

Roost and mud cover the lower half in a race. Big shapes in high-contrast colours still read when the helmet is dirty.

04

Mind the goggle strap

The strap runs round the back and sides, shown in grey on the template. Keep lettering above or below it.

Design it in 3D

Open this motocross helmet in the editor and paint it on flat views like the template. Every stripe and number wraps onto the 3D shell as you draw, and you can share the result with one link.
